Description: A very ambitious project, a new way for artists to represent Rome and its surroundings: between 1792 and 1798 three German artists – Johann Christian Reinhart, Jacob Wilhelm Mechau and Christoph Albert Dies – made the 72 prints “Mahlerisch-radirte Prospecte von Italien” for the publisher and art dealer Frauenholz in Nuremberg. The series is one of the highlights of the graphic art production in Goethe’s age and represents an alternative to urban views. For the first time in a series of etchings, landscape becomes more important than urban depiction. The Casa di Goethe has acquired the entire series for its collection. Descrizione: Nella splendida cornice del centro di Roma, a Via del Corso, la Casa di Goethe ospiterà dal 19 marzo fino al 21 giugno 2009, la mostra di un importante pittore tedesco che ha vissuto ed amato l’Italia: Johann Martin von Rohden 1778 – 1868. Per la prima volta in Italia potremmo ammirare le opere di questo grande paesaggista dell’Ottocento, spesso dimenticato, che invece ci ha lasciato dei grandi omaggi pittorici riguardanti proprio il nostro Paese. In mostra alla Casa di Goethe a Roma, quattro opere di grande formato raffiguranti paesaggi italiani realizzati tra il 1829 e il 1839 ed altri venti dipinti. Le opere sono solitamente conservate nella Neue Galerie della Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel, per volontà della contessa Louise Bose, figlia del Principe elettore Wilhelm II. Non perdete questa interessante mostra alla Casa di Goethe di Roma, per scoprire o ricordare Johann Martin von Rohden, un artista tedesco che ha sposato un’italiana e grazie a lei ha amato tutta l’Italia.
