Description: After its enormous initial success at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco during the summer of 2007 (135,000 visitors), and having followed a course leading through the Hôtel de Ville in Paris (75,000 visitors in the summer of 2008) and the Ekaterina Foundation in Moscow (65,000 visitors between October and December of 2008), the “Grace Kelly Years, Princess of Monaco” exposition will make its next stop in Rome. This outstanding exposition featuring Monaco’s iconic Princess will take up quarters in the Palazzo Ruspoli from October 16th 2009 to February 28th 2010. This prestigious venue in the heart of the Eternal City operates under the auspices of the Memmo Foundation. The exposition will occupy several floors, giving visitors ample opportunity to relive the years during which an exceptional woman reached myth status while living out her extraordinary destiny, that of a Hollywood actress become Princess of Monaco. This homage was conceived and organized by Frédéric Mitterand, recently named France’s Minister of Culture and Communication. It includes pictures by some of the world’s foremost photographers (Howell Conant, Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn…), Grace Kelly’s correspondence with famous figures of her time (Jackie Kennedy, la Callas, Alfred Hitchcock, Cary Grant…), numerous personal belongings, her wardrobe and jewels as well as other fashion accessories such as the famous Kelly bag designed by the Hermès firm.Motion picture clips edited by Nathalie Crinière form a major part of the exposition. They include excerpts from Grace Kelly’s most famous films as well as amateur film strips shot by the Princess herself that offer a close look at the Grimaldi family’s personal life. Descrizione: La Fondazione Memmo rende omaggio alla Principessa Grace di Monaco accogliendo la mostra presentata al Grimaldi Forum durante l’estate 2007, che ritraccia momenti ed aspetti diversi della vita di Grace Kelly. Da star hollywoodiana a Principessa monegasca, l’itinerario di una donna meravigliosa, dal destino eccezionale. La mostra, abilmente curata da Frédéric Mitterrand, dal 23 giugno 2009 Ministro della Cultura e della Comunicazione della Repubblica Francese, si propone di condurre il visitatore nel vivo dei ricordi degli «anni Grace Kelly, Principessa de Monaco». Una mostra omaggio che sfoglia un album di immagini firmate dai più grandi nomi della fotografia (Howell Conant, Cecil Beaton, Irving Penn…), una mostra che svela la corrispondenza scambiata da Grace Kelly con i suoi amici di Hollywood e con i grandi del pianeta (Jackie Kennedy, Alfred Hitchcock, la Callas, Cary Grant…), una mostra che presenta degli oggetti personali, una parte del suo guardaroba (tra cui l’abito da sposa), dei gioielli e numerosi accessori di moda, come la celebre borsa Kelly firmata Hermès. Il cinema, la sua prima vita, sarà largamente rappresentato. Montaggio di sequenze dei suoi film più importanti, largo spazio dedicato al film di Alfred Hitchcock, La finestra sul cortile, ma anche estratti di film di famiglia girati da Grace Kelly stessa e che permettono di penetrare nell’intimità della sua vita quotidiana. Attraverso una donna scomparsa troppo presto, si delinea tutta un’epoca. Un’epoca che vuole dimenticare i lutti della seconda guerra mondiale. Un’epoca in cui una donna, Grace Kelly, lascia la sua America natale e le preferisce, per amore, la vecchia Europa. Dal sito del Palazzo Ruspoli.
