The Big Lebowsky

May 8 & 9 - Midnight- Mezzanotte!
THE BIG LEBOWSKI Party
IFC Center
www.ifccenter.com.

Description: The creators of IFC Center’s previous smash midnight hit, The Buffy The Vampire Slayer Sing-Along, return with two new midnight shows in May that bring your favorite cult movies to life!
The Coen Brothers’ 1998 comedy THE BIG LEBOWSKI has inspired countless bowling parties, drinking games, its own fan convention (Lebowskifest) and even a book dedicated purely to its unstoppable cult following (I’m A Lebowski, You’re A Lebowski). In bringing this oddball slacker classic back, we’re not only showing the film—but making it a party! Before the film, join us and test your skill at Nintendo Wii Bowling on the big screen, as well as contests of rug peeing (Yes, rug peeing!), trivia, impressions, and the f-word speed round. Winners get special Lebowski prizes and a chance to show off their bowling shirts to an adoring crowd. From IFC presentation.

NDNF

March 25 through April 5

New Directors/ New Films 2009
Locations: The Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53 Street between Fifth & Sixth Avenues
The Film Society of Lincoln Center, 165 West 65th Street between Broadway & Amsterdam Avenues on the upper level.

Web-Site: www.filmlinc.com or www.moma.org

Description: Each year, New Directors/New Films, a co-presentation of The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Society of Lincoln Center, unveils a brand new line up of fresh faces on the filmmaking scene. You may recognize some names that appeared in past festivals: Pedro Almodóvar, Kelly Reichardt, Atom Egoyan, Spike Lee, Richard Linklater, Sally Potter, John Sayles, Steven Spielberg, Wim Wenders and Wong Kar Wai were all featured as part of New Directors/New Films early in their careers. Representing 20 countries, the titles in the 38th edition of New Directors/New Films will screen in their New York premieres or, in some cases, their United States and world premieres. From Opening Night’s charming, multicultural drama Amreeka to Closing Night’s We Live in Public, a documentary portrait of an early Internet pioneer, the festival once again affords movie-goers the chance to discover the indie and world cinema stars of tomorrow. From The Film Society’s web-site.

Tipo/Type: Film Festival
